This setup allows you to generate dynamic, moving colors on the surface of a geometry, which can also be interpreted as an "energy-like" effect.
The technique involves calculating the "XYZ distance" of each primitive from the outer line and using this distance to generate a gradient that is animated over time in the shader.
While the setup isn’t overly complex, it often serves as a versatile foundation for expressing various effects. Many creative briefs reference themes of energy or powering up, so this approach could be helpful as a starting point or as inspiration to develop something entirely unique.
This setup is made using Houdini Indie 20.0.75 and render with Redshift 3.6.04.
